From the moment I first met Eric Huskisson, I couldn’t help but smile. There’s something genuinely sweet, funny, caring, and wildly bold about him. And beyond all that: he’s seriously talented.
🎬 Who Is Eric Huskisson
Eric Huskisson is a filmmaker, actor, producer, and director, based in Owensboro, Kentucky. Along with his longtime creative partner, P.J. Starks, he co-founded the indie production company Blood Moon Pictures in 2015.
He didn’t start with dreams of Hollywood glamour. Instead, he came from local roots, having grown up in Owensboro and participated in community theater during high school.
But after meeting P.J. Starks through a community film initiative, everything changed. He found his calling, horror-movie makin’.
What He’s Done & Why It Matters
Their first major project, Volumes of Blood (2015), became a landmark for their indie horror ambitions.
He went on to produce the sequel, Volumes of Blood: Horror Stories, which achieved critical acclaim, some horror-fandom icons called it “one of the best anthology films in years.”
He didn’t stop there. Eric helped create and produce more indie horror works, including the holiday-horror anthology 13 Slays Till X‑Mas (2020), where he served not only as producer but also as one of the contributing directors.
His creative path isn’t just about horror tropes, it’s about community, about giving a chance to local and regional creatives in Owensboro and beyond. Blood Moon Pictures thrives on collaboration, on building a grassroots film scene outside of Hollywood.
Why He Deserves More Recognition ❤️
You know how I said he’s sweet and caring? That shows not just in his personality, but in the work he chooses to do.
He believes in “film for fans, by fans”, making horror that speaks to real people, not just big-budget studios. That authenticity can be rare.
He gives opportunities to everyday people, local actors, small-town crews, indie talents, giving voices to folks who otherwise wouldn’t get a shot.
He takes the time out of his day to interact with fans. P.J. and Eric were attending the Chicago Horror Film Festival and showing their movie New Fears Eve (which is a must-see!), and I stopped them to ask for a photo together and talk, and they did exactly that. They took time to actually talk to and listen to me, a simple fan with no name. Not only did they inspire me, but they’ve stayed in contact with me and continue to encourage me to chase my dreams.
He’s bold, not afraid to wear many hats (producer, actor, prop-master, director) to make sure the story gets told. That kind of grit and passion deserves spotlight.
He’s building something real: a sense of community, a shared love for horror, and a platform for under-the-radar talent.
A Fan’s Plea: More Eyes on Eric
It breaks my heart (in the best way) that someone as talented as Eric Huskisson remains under the radar. Maybe it’s because he works outside the big spotlight. But to me, that’s precisely what makes him special.
So to you reading this: Watch his films. Share the love. Support indie creators who care about storytelling and community.
Because I adore him and I think he absolutely needs more recognition.
